A short summary of our project
We're raising money to enhance our concert performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. We have already set aside funding to cover the costs of putting on the concert, but following feedback from audience members and performers from our performance of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2019, we want to give everyone an even better experience.
We need your help to take the concert to the next level.
Who are WE?
Music at Reading provide musical opportunities at the University for everyone - students, staff and other musicians in the local community.
Our ensembles and performers play a busy schedule of concerts and events throughout the year, in venues across campus and beyond. We are based in Building L29 on the London Road campus, where you will find rehearsal studios, practice rooms, and the Music at Reading office.
Why are we doing a concert production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat?
This is a fantastic piece of music. This concert will bring together soloists from the Music at Reading membership, an adult and a children's chorus, and a concert orchestra. Festival Voices and Festival Sinfonia will learn the music throughout the spring term in the Community Festival – a series of intensive rehearsals led by professional directors and tutors. Everyone in the performance is a member of Music at Reading, which includes students, staff, alumni, and musical members of the local community.
Why should I donate to this crowdfunding project - will I make a difference?
Any amount donated will make a huge difference. This performance will cost just over £3000, which we have already put aside in the Music at Reading budget.
We are fundraising to pay for better AV equipment, plus some costumes and props for the concert – and if we reach our stretch goal of £2500, some orchestral acoustic shields. Your help will improve our performance, and the audience experience.
Where will the money go?
All funding will go directly into Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat - whether we hit or exceed our target! We'll keep you up to date through our social media channels with our progress.
Every little helps, so we've worked out stages of funding:
£550 will go towards enhancing our sound equipment, so that the performers on stage can hear what's coming through the speakers, and to amplify the choir properly so that they can be heard over the orchestra.
£800 will provide enhanced sound equipment, as above, plus more costumes and props, which will help draw the audience into our world of Joseph.
£2500 will allow us to do everything above, plus invest in ten RATStand acoustic screens which will protect the hearing of our orchestra and the audience by deflecting the sound waves away from players (and audience members) in front of our loudest instruments.
We have some fab rewards to thank everyone who donates, whatever the amount you might give. Everyone who helps us out by donating will be thanked in the Donors list in our programme, as well as receiving your pledge rewards.
Help us succeed!
You don't need to give money to help us succeed! Please share this project with anyone you think would support us – on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, by email, telephone, in a chat over the fence or on your blog.
In fact, share it with everyone you know as we think it's a great idea, and the more people who know about it, the more likely we are to make this work out brilliantly.
We'd love it if you could help us by sponsoring!
If you would prefer to pledge your support through an alternative method to PayPal, please visit the Reading FundSpace online donation form here.
