Our Film

This film follows Rowan, a young woman grieving the loss of her partner, Jasper. She is encouraged by her friends at a Halloween party to use a Ouija board to speak to him one more time, but nothing appears to happen until he begins appearing to her in a dream-like space, his ghost bleeding into her everyday life. Jasper begins convincing Rowan that being in this space is better than that of the outside, and Rowan doesn't realise the danger she's in until it's too late.

Our film is here for those who have ever felt trapped in a situation that feels inescapable, to get a message out that there are always people out there who care about you and are willing to help. We want to use this space to contribute to the fight against domestic abuse by highlighting coercive control behaviours and ways to access help. While domestic abuse is something that can happen to anyone, statistics show that it is mostly carried out by men and experienced by women.

inspiration and aesthetics

Our main colour schemes within the film are green and orange, representing Jasper and Rowan respectively. Green connotes a cold, dead, ominous feel, it doesn't showcase obvious danger but instead a suspicious, eerie and otherworldly change to the atmosphere. Orange connotes somewhat of the opposite, a warm, solitude, candlelight like feel which juxtaposes the vibe of the rest of the set to create an unsettling and uncanny feel. It feels out of place, just like Rowan in the void.

Help us succeed!

Please share this as much as possible to help us achieve our goal! We are incredibly grateful for all donations no matter how much, and cannot thank you enough for your support :)
