WHY I NEED YOUR HELP
I am seeking to raise £3000 to create a 30-minute Docu-Fiction that unveils the heart-wrenching reality of child trafficking in Africa, conveyed through the personal account of a survivor.
I intend to rail against the widespread problem of child trafficking while raising the question of how effective a documentary can be in stirring up change.
ABOUT ME
I am Eghoghon Sarah Ifidon, originally from Nigeria and now based in the UK. I work as a Scriptwriter and Producer, and I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Film at the University of Reading.
"THE STREETS KNOW MY NAME"
The Streets Know My Name is a haunting docu-fiction that intimately follows the life of a trafficked child trapped in an unfamiliar land as he strives to reclaim his identity and freedom nineteen years later.
Through his harrowing experiences, raw emotions, and inspiring resilience, viewers witness a powerful exploration of his ability to withstand the temptations of crime while finding hope, healing, and strength amidst adversity.
This docu-fiction uncovers the complexities of this young man's ongoing battle against the chains of his past and present while shedding light on the urgent global issue of human trafficking.
By contributing to this endeavour, you will play a vital role in sharing this young man's story while contributing to curbing the brazen crime of human trafficking.
This film will be showcased at prominent platforms such as Film Festivals and Screening events, possibly leading to a reunion with his family after a separation spanning nineteen years.
meet vassat peter
At the age of 7, Vassat Peter was brought from Togo to Nigeria by his father in 2004, where he was made to work as a domestic staff (houseboy). During the time of his trafficking, he was the sole child of his parents. Now, at 26 years of age, Vassat is prepared to recount his experiences.
Where will the money go?
I will be crafting this docu-fiction in Lagos, Nigeria, and Lome, Togo, the latter being Vassat's place of origin. Producing beyond the borders of the UK means that I lack access to specialized equipment provided by the University, so I will be hiring equipment such as Blackmagic or RED cameras, Dolly, Grip, a drone and more.
My film budget includes:
- Equipment hire for Production (12 Days)
- Production in Togo (6 Days)
- Production in Lagos (6 Days)
- Trip to Togo (Van, Fuel, Accommodation & Security)
- Feeding, Wardrobe, Props (Togo & Nigeria)
- Travel expenses in Togo and Lagos
- Post-Production
- Marketing
- Archival Footage for Lagos, Nigeria & Lome, Togo
When I hit my full fundraising target, I will:
- Secure the services of crew members and cast for this production
- Submit the finished work to at least five film festivals
