A surreal dark comedy with thriller elements about burnout, disconnection and rediscovery.

Guy gets thrown into strange situations after leaving the safety of his job

summary

Roadkill follows the 'Guy,' a man in his 30s who is struggling to find his place in the world. He is stuck in his mundane life and in a job he has no interest in. After taking a leap of faith, he quits. However, this doesn't work out the way he thought it would after he is thrown into an absurd series of events.

This is a dark comedy about burnout, disconnection and rediscovery. Blending grounded realism with the surreal, comedy and thriller elements. The film follows a trio of rag-tied strangers, with Guy at the front, who find themselves increasingly entangled in strange events.

Who am I?

I'm Monty. I am a postgrad at the University of Reading. I study in the Film and Television department. I am very excited about bringing life to film, especially in my latest University film, 'Roadkill'. I will be working with great filmmakers in the University and around Reading to make this film.

story Behind THE FILM

When Guy leaves his job, he gets thrown into a world of the strange. He bands with the awkward Beth and cynical Frank to navigate the situations they get themself into. Roadkill is a story about the many outlooks on life, how absurd life is, and how to find a place in an ever-changing world.

I am making this film for my final research piece for my postgrad. I aim to explore research on cinematography and mise-en-scène to inform the development of visual style through the practical production of a fictional film, with a focus on genre-bending. The running time of this short film will be between 20 to 30 minutes. This film is important to me as it will allow me to explore a range of different visuals and share them with you.

Where will the money go?

All the money I raise through this crowd funder will go to the film.
