He has to confront his past in order to get back HOME!

What is the film "Destination Home"?

The real 'Romdramticedy' that asks the question. What does it mean to love?

Destination Homes explores the story of a guy named Charlie as he grieves over the breakup of his ex-girlfriend, "Evangeline," as he travels back home in the dark streets of Reading. Through this walk, he gets phone calls and messages from people from his life that symbolise the 5 stages of grief, where each part goes into a colourful flashback of the past he refused to confront.

This film isn't just another love story. It's a story about reflecting on what it means to love someone, even after heartbreak.

our story

Destination Home is a love story, even after the heartbreak.

It follows the character Charlie as he struggles to cope with a one-month break-up that he caused himself due to self-sabotage. During a walk, he gets phone calls and messages from other characters, which symbolise one of the five stages of grief, revealing more about the cause of the break-up and his self-sabotaging behaviour through a flashback after the phone call.

  • Mother (Denial): The first voicemail in the film tries to distract Charlie from the situation. At this moment, Charlie sees Evangeline's voicemail but chooses to ignore it.
  • Boss (Anger): In the film, Charlie is visibly angry at the situation and takes it out on the Boss.
  • Scottie (Bargaining): His drunk friend, whom he calls at the club, mostly tells him to move on.
  • Charlie (Depression): The first time Charlie can reflect on the situation (seeing flashbacks of the cause of the break-up, such as lack of money or intimacy) and how he feels about it. However, the moment makes him reflect on what has happened after the break-up. That despite the heartbreak it caused him to look within to why he self-sabotages, that shape him in becoming a better person.
  • Evangeline (Acceptance): We got the voicemail from her that he ignored from the opening. He's finally coming to terms with the situation, which finally reveals that he was returning to her.

In Destination Home, we wanted to show how the meaning of love is different: patient, kind, sacrificial, scary. Everyone has dealt with a situation with a break-up, so we wanted to show how a break-up might not be the end, but an opportunity to reflect and make you become a better person.

The main character, Charlie, breaks up with Evangeline because of self-sabotage. As filmmakers, we wanted to show this because there are some things in the relationship that are out of our control that cause us to believe that we're not deserving of the relationship.

If you donate, we can have enough money to tell this thought-provoking story about the love that we share for others.

INSPIRATION

Here are some of our mood boards for our film. We took inspiration from films of the romance genre. However, the monochrome look was inspired by films like Sin City and Schindler's List.
