Upbringing makes us who we are
Telling local stories from people around the world - finding what makes us human and uniting us all. What's it all about?
Our film is a dive into human connection, discovery and upbringing. We are passionate about giving voices to people in order to share their stories to the masses. Whether it's near or far, young or old - every voice deserves to be heard - we are looking to record someone's journey from their point of view.
we have been Greatly inspired by the documentary ‘summer of soul’. That documentary used archival footage as a foundation, the footage is vibrant, colourful, and gives a sense of nostalgia to the viewer. We are inspired by this and will aim for the same vibrancy in our documentary.
Blending our talking-head Interview with Our subject, with this footage along with b-roll footage in/at the community centre where we are filming. the documentary is to not only bring awareness to The Windrush scandal and how it has affected people like our subject, but to also link it back to the community centre and how they have helped her and other people in the community.

OUR story
We are a group of University students who are determined to tell just some of the fascinating stories in the areas around us. Many of us local to the Berkshire area know of just some of the incredible stories to be told.
As local people, we know the importance of telling our story to the next generation and ensuring its preservation in order to keep knowledge of our past going. We want to help preserve some of the many stories to be found out there.
We hope you'll believe and see the importance of our mission and get as passionate about it as we are!
Where will the money go?
The money that you donate will aid us in several key aspects of the filming process, from travel to the venue, hiring equipment key to our vision, and enabling us to shoot in our venue of choice!
- Venue hire: £200
- Travel costs: £100
- Cast and crew catering: £100
- Production costs: £50
- Equipment costs: £50
If we raise any extra funds above our target, this money will be used by the University of Reading Film Theatre and Television department to help promote our film and other films made by our fellow students.
