A summary of our project
For our final year project, our goal is to create an exciting and immersive short documentary about the Watercress Line, celebrating its legacy and the community of staff, visitors, and volunteers that make it what it is today.
Who are you?
We are a group of final year BA Film & Television students at the University of Reading. Each of us fulfil a specific role on or off set and we are excited to see this project come to life!
Producer - Callum Robertson
As the producer, Callum is responsible for dealing with the logistics (budget, schedule, contacts, etc) and overseeing the development and production of the project.
Director / Producer - Charles Loble-Dott
As the Director, Charles is excited to see his vision come to life. As an Alton local, he understands how important the Watercress Line is for the local community. He has a lot of memories going there with family and friends and wants to match that energy on-screen.
First AD / Editor - Mohamed Buhdeima
When on set, Mohamed makes sure everything runs smoothly and the rest of the crew fulfil their roles. In post-production, his role as the Lead Editor is vital as he stitches the film together to form the final cut.
Sound Mixer - Caleb Bartlett-Kotval
Caleb has a crucial role on set. His sound design will add depth to the narrative and create and immersive experience for the audience.
Director of Photography - Antonio Campanella
Antonio has a brilliant cinematic style that he brings to the project. His unique approach will transform the Watercress Line and the locomotives into a visual spectacle that will engage the audience.
Camera Operator / Gaffer - Shahin Hakim
Working alongside Antonio to create an immersive visual experience, Shahin has a keen eye for lighting and will give the Watercress Line a brand new cinematic look never done before.
Our AIM
We want to tell the story of the Watercress Line in a short documentary using a unique and immersive cinematic style. The narrative will cover the history of the railway line and honour its legacy. We will celebrate the local community, including the staff, visitors, and volunteers, who are the heart and soul of the Watercress Line.
How funds will be used
Majority of the funds will be to cover travel expenses. We are a small crew and have to transport equipment between different sites quickly!
The remaining funds will be allocated to production costs, such as filming and communication gear, and post-production costs, such as a composer for an original soundtrack.
