When Cece decides it is time to leave her small town Munera, strange things begin to occur that all point to a troubling reality. The closer Cece gets to the truth, the more she begins to realise that her decision to leave may not have been her decision at all.
Who are you?
My name is Sophie Flesher and I am the writer and director of Last Day in Munera. I am so excited to get started with this project! This film is based on a short story I wrote in my first year of my BA English Literature degree, so it feels very fitting to close my final year at the University of Reading with this film for my Creative Enterprise Film MA.
I have always loved storytelling, but I have always expressed this passion through writing. Last Day in Munera is a rare opportunity to put on screen a concept that had previously only been conveyed through Microsoft Word on an unreliable laptop in my first year accommodation. It feels so great to be able to close my time at the university with this film, working with such great people and a great department!

Your story
Last Day in Munera merges three storytelling mediums I love: film, books, and video games.
Last Day in Munera deals with a concept that has been explored in many video games but not so much on film. It deals with the concept of the Narrator and us as an audience being an accomplice in his treatment of characters for the sake of our enjoyment. This film explores the idea of spectatorship, censorship and character voyeurism.
Where will the money go?
- Pay a professional voice actor for The Narrator
- Catering for Cast & Crew
- Venue Hire
- Props
- Any extra money will go to paying the crew for their valuable time and work
